We flew down to Florida for the very last part of our 48 week, 29 country beer tour of the world. There were two reasons for this 1) we could get a cheap flight home from Orlando 2) the guys at Cycle Brewing had been kind enough to offer us up some time thanks to the guys at Toppling Goliath putting us in touch, so of course we were going to go to Florida.
So unlike most of the other Brits in Florida in Summer lazing on the beach or throwing themselves around on rollercoasters, we were sweating (I mean really sweating) stood in the Floridian heat in a bloody hot brewery. And it was the BEST THING EVER.
We got to hang out with Eric, Cycle’s head brewer who is now officially Mike’s man crush. We got to see their epic barrel store, try some mindblowing beers and then sit in Cycle’s St. Petersburg tap room with Doug, Cycle’s founder & Eric.
We were then invited back to go and try some beers straight from the barrels on our very last day of this unreal world tour. What an incredible way to sign off this epic year – tasting Cycle barrel aged beers and some of their new Orange Belt Brewery, sours. Of course every drop was fantastic, and their benchmark are some of the very best breweries around.
Our very last night was spent with the brew team & friends Hutch & Casey in their tap room, hanging out on a Friday night putting the world to rights and discussing what the fuck wiffle ball is.
If this doesn’t put a precedent on the type of beers we aspire to create and the kind of people we want to be, I don’t know what will.
Thank you Eric, Doug & the team for making our last few days so incredibly epic.
And so that’s it. We’re done. Thank you to every single brewer, server, distiller, owner, employee who has taken a few hours out of their day to help us.
To every person who’s come out and visited us on our travels.
Every person who’s read, shared one of our blog posts or liked what we are doing on social media.
It means a huge amount and makes it all worth it.
All this culminates that we know exactly who we want to be as a brewery now, long gone from the days of “we’ll brew anything!”. We know what we want to look like and we know our goals and aspirations. That’s all we could have asked for to help shape our business.
And for the next step. Opening a brewery & tap room in Reading.
So it’s not really the end, it’s just the beginning!
